Dallas scored twice before Jonatan Berggren cut the deficit to one in the third period with his first preseason goal, but the Blues couldn’t find the equalizer.
Casey DeSmith made 30 saves for Dallas, while Joel Hofer stopped 17 of 18 for St. Louis.
Berggren was a bright spot for the Blues, while Mason McTavish made his St. Louis debut.
