School Board Delays Bullying Policy Vote

The Columbia School Board has delayed a vote on its revised bullying policy until its next work session on October 21st.

The proposed policy expands reporting requirements to include substitutes, contractors and volunteers, who would be required to report bullying within two school days.

Investigations would need to begin within two school days and be completed within ten. Parents or guardians of both students involved would also be notified of the findings within five school days of the investigation’s completion.

Board member Paul Harper says the changes focus on clarifying the policy. If approved, it would take effect in January 2027.
