Columbia Man Charged in Homicide-Linked Gun Theft
An 18-year-old Columbia man is facing charges in connection with a series of thefts, including the theft of a gun allegedly used in a January homicide.
Kayden Brandkamp was charged Friday with four counts of stealing and one count of tampering with evidence.
Court documents allege Brandkamp provided the gun used by Mikel Jones to shoot and kill 42-year-old Michael Ryan Burke during a robbery at Burke’s home on January 18.
Investigators say Brandkamp also helped steal iPhones from people selling them on Facebook Marketplace in the days leading up to the shooting.
Brandkamp allegedly admitted to providing Jones with the gun and trying to hide it afterward. He is being held without bond in the Boone County Jail.
