A Vandalia man was killed in a car accident yesterday [Friday] afternoon. According to the crash report, 83 year old Henry Gerdes of Vandalia was crossing U.S. 61 in New London and pulled into the path of a pickup. Gerdes was pronounced dead at the scene.
