On Saturday Mexico Public Safety responded to the 700 block of East Love street after a resident reported seeing smoke coming from under their porch.
Fire crews found small fire in a much bed that had spread and had begun to burn the bottom the porch.
The fire was extinguished with minor damage. No injuries were reported.
Public Safety is warning residents that most grass and brush are still in their dormant stage and will burn easily. When combined with already low amounts of precipitation, fire risks are higher than normal. Citizens are reminded to have a water source nearby when burning yard waste, and recreational fires should be kept confined.
