New Prosecutor to be Named in Helea Case

A new prosecutor will be appointed in the case involving the Moniteau County Prosecutor Shane Helea.

The Missouri Eastern District Court of Appeals made a ruling yesterday (Tuesday) that the attorney general’s office has to remove itself from the case, in order to protect the fairness of the trial.

Helea is charged with four counts of assault and leaving the scene of an accident, after being accused of backing his truck into Addison’s restaurant in downtown Columbia.
