The Jefferson City Fire Department rescued a dog that fell over a bluff this morning.
According to the department, crews were called to the 1000 block of Booneville Road at 10:42. Upon arrival, they found a small dog about 40 feet down a steep embankment and bluff overlooking the railroad tracks.
A rescuer was lowered down to retrieve the animal.
The dog was returned to the owner with no injuries.
The fire department was assisted by animal control.
