Change Of Venue Granted For Murder Trial

Judge Scott Alan Hayes has granted a change of venue for a man accused of causing the death of Leon Wilder III in July of last year.

According to court documents, Richard Henry II was granted the change of venue as a matter of right, based on pre trial media publicity.

The change of motion will be determined closer to the trial, which is scheduled for the week of June 25.

The court determined the trial would be held in Warren County, or in Audrain County with a jury from Warren County, depending on court room availability.

The Audrain County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office recently decided to waive the death penalty in this case, instead seeking life in prison.

Henry is charged with a number of crimes including first degree murder. According to a probable cause statement, Henry, along with Arline Diedrich shot Wilder in the head inside Henry’s pick up truck on Audrain Road 997.
