Senate Passes Hemp Bill

The Missouri Senate has passed a bill today that would legalize industrial hemp operations in the state.

The Senate voted 29 to 3 to send the proposal to the house.

Hemp can be used as a raw material for manufacturing. It comes from the same plant as marijuana, but with very low levels of THC, the intoxicating chemical in marijuana.

The bill would require people to get a permit from the Department of Agriculture to grow hemp.
