American White Pelicans Find Their Way To KXEO

A large flock of American White Pelicans has made their way to the lake behind KXEO.

The pelicans are very large in size with an average length of just over 5 feet from the tip of their beak to the tip of their tail. They have a wingspan of around 9 feet.

Audrain County Conservation Agent Norman Steelman, says that while seeing pelicans is not uncommon during migration they don’t stick around long.

To see the pelicans the lake is on East Liberty in Mexico.
