A man convicted of the 2014 murder of 6 year old Dayne Hathman was denied post conviction relief.
31 year old Scottie A. Willet was sentenced to life in prison admitted to shooting Hathman several times at Hathman’s home in Callaway County.
A hearing was held on April 4th and 5th for post conviction relief after an attorney hired by Willet said he was forced to take a plea, and due to a mental disability, did not know the implications of the action.
In a decision released yesterday, [Friday] Judge Jeff Harris ruled Willet had received an adequate mental evaluation prior to making the plea, and he was represented by competent and committed counsel.
Additionally, the judge sentenced Willet to an additional 20 years in prison for armed criminal action.
