An investigation into animal neglect at a Holts Summit kennel has led to an arrest of a city employee and the removal of animals.
According to a news release from Holts Summit the city’s animal control officer said the city’s kennel facility had poor conditions for the impounded animals.
Following an investigation, the city employee responsible for caring for the animals was fired and arrested.
Holts Summit City Administrator Matt Harline says the private owner of the kennel had no part in the neglect.
The city official arrested has not been identified and charges have not been filed as the prosecutor reviews the case.
The Holts Summit Board of Alderman have voted to approve an agreement with the city of Fulton for the use of the Grabb Animal Shelter.
