Mexico Man Arrested For Making False Report About Dog

The Audrain County Sheriff’s Office is reporting a dog that was reported to have been found with black tape along Highway 54 near Route HH has gone home to his owners, and the Mexico man has been arrested for making a false report.

Carl Nowlin made a report of finding the dog, who was later transported to the Mexico Audrain Animal Shelter.

Sheriff Matt Oller says several calls were made to CrimeStoppers stating that animal had been seen at a gas station in Eldon before turning up in Audrain County.

Video footage from a gas station in Eldon revealed Nowlin was allegedly seen visiting with the dog before loading it into his van and leaving the area hours before making the report.
