A Troy woman is facing charges after being accused of stealing her terminally ill daughter’s pain medications.
Forty six year old Carol Ballweg is charged with four counts of stealing a controlled substance and 2 counts of abuse of a vulnerable person.
Ballweg was the primary caregiver for her daughter who is receiving hospice care. Medical staff found bed sores on the daughter and began to suspect the she was not receiving the prescribed doses of fentanyl and oxycodone. A urine test confirmed she had not received the medications, even though Ballweg had repeatedly requested refills ahead of schedule.
