Deck Fire at Residence in Mexico on East Jackson

The cause of an overnight fire in the 1000 block of East Jackson is still unknown.

Mexico Public Safety responded to the fire around 2:18 this (Wednesday) morning and the front deck of a home on fire.

The owner had extinguished most of the blaze with a garden hose.

Significant damage is being reported to a portion of the deck and some of the siding on the home melted.

Investigators say the fire started in some mulch at the base of deck, no injuries were reported.
