A Cole County Grand Jury has upgraded charges against Alfred Chism Jr. who is accused of shooting Charon Session on August 27.
Murder charges have been upgraded from second degree murder to first degree murder. He is also charged with armed criminal action.
Chism told police Session had been verbally harassing him, and had texted Chism just before he showed up at Chism’s house.
Chism opened the door with a pistol and told Session to leave, then shot him.
Chism would face life in prison if convicted.
