Judge Hears Arguments On Firing Of Former Sturgeon Police Chief

A Boone County judge is now deciding on whether a case involving the firing of former Sturgeon Police Chief Greg Halderman will go forward.

Judge Jeff Harris heard arguments yesterday (Monday) over a motion for partial summary judgement in a lawsuit brought by Halderman.

The Sturgeon Board of Alderman voted 3-1 in March last year to fire Halderman, citing reports of inappropriate behavior and alcohol abuse.

Haldmeran’s attorney argued the removal process was insufficient and the city did not give the chief procedural protections.

The City of Sturgeon’s attorney Marshall Wilson argued that the city followed all the requirements set forth in the statute they used to remove Halderman.

The judge has taken the motion under advisement and did not give a date for a decision.
