Valuable Gold Coin Left In Salvation Army Kettle In Jefferson City

The Jefferson City Salvation Army is reporting someone left a rare gold coin in one their Red Kettles earlier this week.

According to a spokesperson for the Salvation Army the coin is an un-circulated 1998 American Eagle One ounce Gold Proof coin, currently valued at around $1300.

The salvation plans to sale the coin at the end of the bell ringing season in January.

The current fundraising goal is $96,144, and the money raised goes towards Christmas services like the Angel Tree Program, food pantry, and rental assistance program.
