The Mexico City Council met for a work session and meeting Monday night.
During the work session, Assistant City Manager and Director of Economic Development Russell Runge reported Mexico is currently home to 11,622 people, an increase of just over 100 from last year.
In the Mexico population, the average annual wage is $34,952 with only 2.5% unemployment.
In the regular session, the council agreed to the purchase of two new 2019 Dodge Chargers for Mexico Public Safety from Landmark Dodge. They cost just over $26 thousand each.
The Parks and Maintenance Department will also be receiving a 3 quarter ton long bed pick up at the cost of $19,900.
During 2019, the park improvements will continue at Hardin Park.
Mayor Chris Miller encouraged those in the community with questions about the potential turnover of SSM to MU Hralthcare to attend the public forum that will take place Wednesday morning.
