Vandalia Man Arraigned For Assaulting Man With Baseball Bat

Michael Ogden of Vandalia was scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon [Wednesday] after he allegedly assaulted a man with a metal baseball bat on December 28 in the 500 block of East Highway 54.

According to a probable cause statement, a witness told police she heard yelling outside of her back door, and saw the victim bent over saying “help me.” The witness reports the victim told her he had been hit repeatedly with the baseball bat, but she was hesitant to tell investigators the name of the assailant at the victim’s request, then refused to fill out a written statement at that time.

Police found the victim at the Pike County Memorial Clinic before he was taken by ambulance to Hannibal Regional Hospital.

Ogden is being held on a $100 thousand cash only bond.
