The National Weather Service has increased predicted snow accumulation to 8 to 12 inches for most of the listening area, and the Missouri Department of Transportation is warning people to stay off the roadways if at all possible.
MoDot says the snow is expected to be heavy and snow being thrown from plows can be a hazard.
Snowplows will be traveling at slower speeds when operating.
Motorists are asked to stay at least 4 car lengths behind snowplows and equipment.
MoDot is asking anyone who must be on the road to wear a seatbelt, steer and brake gently and allow extra space between your vehicle and the one in front of you.
