A pilot credited with finding a missing St. Louis ballerina in November of 2018 was honored by the Missouri State Highway Patrol yesterday. [Monday]
Highway Patrol Captain James Wilt presented Monroe City resident Ollie “Butch” Pennewell with the Honorary Trooper Certificate.
The award is given to citizens nominated by a trooper for performing in an exemplary manner, and under dangerous conditions, to aid another person or unselfishly give of themselves to assist troopers in the performance of their duties.
Pennewell volunteered to fly his plane over Mark Twain Lake in the search for Raffaella Stroik. He found her body south of the Missouri 107 Boat ramp.
