Sisters Honored By Highway Patrol

Two Owensville sisters were recognized for courageous acts when their father suffered a medical problem while driving on October 30, 2018.

Gabby Hale and Arissa Huff, both 14 received the honorary trooper award.

Their father was no longer able to control the speed of the vehicle and Hale, who was in the back seat, called their mother and 911.

Huff was in the front passenger seat and took over steering the car from her father, whose foot was still on the accelerator.

Huff was able to shift the car into neutral and safely steer the car to the right shoulder. When they were stopped, she was able to turn off the engine and put the car into park.

A third child in the back seat was uninjured in the incident.
