Murder Charges Brought Against Columbia Man In Deadly Crash

Murder charges are being brought against a Columbia man accused of killing a woman in a head on car crash and then leaving from another wreck.

According to a probable cause statement it happened on February 16th when Lukas Evans ran a red light in his vehicle and crashed into 2 cars.

Police say Evans sped away from the wreck on West Boulevard, at Prospect Street in Columbia, driving into oncoming traffic to get around another vehicle.

He is said to have slammed into a car driven by 37 year old Jordan Hoyt which killed her.

According to court records Evans later admitted he was driving at an excessive speed for the roadway.

He is charged with Second Degree Murder and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
