One of the best rivalries in baseball will be renewed today (Friday) when the St. Louis Cardinals meet the Chicago Cubs for the first time this season.
Fireworks could fly early at Wrigley Field after comments made back in January by Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant who described St. Louis as boring during a comedy sketch at a Cubs Convention.
Veteran Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina snapped back at Bryant on social media, and made a promise when asked if the bad blood would spill into the season.
Molina said “oh it will, it will carry over.”
Tune into to AM 1340 KXEO first pitch at 1:20.
The St. Louis Cardinals had their 5 game winning streak come to an end 2-1 to the Washington Nationals last (Thursday) night.
In other Cardinals news the announcement was made yesterday (Thursday) that former backup catcher Francisco Pena has been traded to the San Francisco Giants for cash.
The Kansas City Royals lost 3-1 to the Tampa Bay Rays yesterday (Thursday).
The Royals were 0-9 with runners in scoring position.
Kansas City’s starting pitcher Danny Duffy threw 100 pitches over six innings, 73 were strikes.
