An inmate that escaped from Chariton County today [Wednesday] was arrested this afternoon in Madison.
The Monroe City Police Department says a Chariton County Deputy was taken over by two inmates, which lead to one of them stealing a patrol vehicle.
Investigation revealed the suspect was possibly headed toward Monroe City, and as a precaution Monroe City Schools were put on lockdown in the middle of buses being loaded at the end of the school day.
At approximately 3:20, the suspect was taken into custody.
