Two Arraigned At Audrain County Jail Following Potential Threat At Courthouse
Two people accused in the murder of Tajuan Williams in Mexico were arraigned today [Tuesday] at the Audrain County Jail after an anonymous tip to law enforcement about a shooting being planned at the Audrain County Courthouse.
According to Major James Shrader with the Audrain County Sheriff’s Office, joint communications received a call at 9:39 this morning from someone reporting they had overheard a shooting was going to take place during the arraignments of Demetric Dorsey and Trebion Dorsey.
The tip led to a large number of law enforcement officers from the sheriff’s office, Mexico Public Safety and the Missouri State Highway Patrol being on site during court.
Shrader reports the matter is still under investigation.
Audrain County Commissioner Steve Hobbs said there were a lot of people at the courthouse this morning, and personnel were instructed to be aware of their surroundings.
Judge Linda Hamlett, along with Audrain County Prosecutor Jacob Shellabarger and defense attorneys gathered at the jail and Demetric Dorsey and Trebion Dorsey were arraigned in person this afternoon.
