The St. Louis Cardinals President of Baseball Operations John Mozeliak is providing an update on several players.

Mozeliak says center fielder Harrision Bader is being optioned to Class AAA Memphis.

Bader who is in an 8-78 tailspin has seen his average plummet to .195.

Catcher Yadier Molina, who has been out since the All-Star break with a torn thumb tendon suffered in May, has been cleared to begin light baseball activities according to Mozeliak.

That will have him taking swings off a tee.

Mozeliak says if all goes, Yadi could be sent on a rehab assignment the first week of August.

matt carpenter

Matt Carpenter remains at Class AA Springfield, continuing to struggle with his swing and rehabbing a sore right foot.

Carpenter is 0-19 in the minors, going 0-3 with a walk last night.

The Kansas City Royals with a 7-3 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays at Kauffman Stadium last (Monday) night.

Offensively the Royals managed just five hits off of Toronto’s starting pitching.

Kansas City is now 10-7 since the All-Star break.

Four Kansas City Chiefs players left practice early yesterday (Monday) with injuries.

The team believes cornerback Keith Reaser may have torn his Achilles.

Wide receiver Gehrig Dieter had some back spasms, running back Marcus Marshall strained his groin and offensive lineman Mitch Schwartz felt his back lock up on him.

The Chiefs start up practice again in St. Joseph at 8:15 this (Tuesday) morning.
