It was a grand day for the St. Louis Cardinals and Lane Thomas yesterday (Sunday).
The Redbirds completed a sweep of Pittsburgh in a 3 game series thanks to a 410 grand slam by Thomas.
Fighting for playing time Thomas had not made a start since joining the Cardinals at the end of July.
With the win St. Louis took over 2nd place in the National League Central just 2 games behind the Chicago Cubs.
The Kansas City Royals with a 10-2 win over the Detroit Tigers. Hunter Dozier and Jorge Soler each had two homer games in the victory.
Dozier and Soler hit back to back jacks in the eighth inning.
