Mexico Bus Drivers Pay To Increase For Upcoming Year
Bus drivers in the Mexico School District will see a 1 percent pay increase for the upcoming year.
Last month a proposal to switch bus drivers from route pay to hourly pay was voted down.
A special work session took place on Monday, where the board of education came to a consensus to increase the base pay rate from the original proposal.
The drivers will now make an $18.50 hourly base.
They will also be guaranteed one and half hours of pay for both their morning and afternoon routes.
Drivers who bus students on field trips or sporting events will receive $12 per hour for driving time and $9.25 per hour for idle time.
The board approved the proposal unanimously 6-0.
