Jefferson City Police Officer Injured During Arrest of Mexico Resident

Several Mexico residents in the Cole County Jail after being arrested Saturday morning at a Jefferson City Holiday Inn and Suites.

According to Jefferson City Police they went to the business at 1509 Jefferson Street.

Officers say 38 year old Richard Matthews fled on foot and was arrested a short time later as a parole absconder with multiple felony warrants.

A second person 34 year old Zachariah Jones, then attempted to flee and injured an officer during a struggle and eventual arrest.

The officer will undergo additional testing next week for a leg injury.

The 2 remaining people 30 year old Angelika Tocco and 34 year old Christopher Goff said to have cooperated with officers during the contact.

All 4 booked into the Cole County Jail for their individual warrants.
