More Details Released In Officer Involved Shooting In Fulton

More details are being released in the officer involved shooting in Fulton on Monday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a Fulton Police officer attempted to stop a vehicle for reported suspicious activity at around 10:00 a.m. in the 700 block of Hickman Avenue.

The vehicle initially fled and a short pursuit began.

After the pursuit, the officer got out of his vehicle and was on foot attempting to contact the driver when the vehicle accelerated toward him.

The officer discharged his service weapon, striking 25-year old Cody L. McCaulou of Columbia.

McCaulou was pronounced dead on Tuesday afternoon and an autopsy was completed yesterday (Thursday), the results of which are still pending.

The Callaway County Prosecutor has recused himself from the case and a special prosecutor has now been appointed.

The MSHP Division of Drug and Crime Control is continuing their investigation into the incident.
