Mexico Department of Public Safety Sees Slight Increase In Certain Cases

The Mexico Department of Public Safety is noticing an increase in certain types of calls during the stay at home orders.

According to Major Brice Mesko, there has been a slight increase in assaults, especially related to domestic incidents.

The uptick began March 9th after the first case of COVID-19 was announced on March 7th.

The number of times residents have resisted arrest has also increased during the same time period.

The department looked at numbers from the same weeks last year and compared that to numbers this year.

Mesko says that overall, residents and visitors to Mexico have done a good job of remaining calm and doing what needed to be done as the entire country has struggled with the COVID-19 issue.
