Mexico Public Safety Has Released A Statement On Vigils And Protests Planned In Mexico Tonight

The Mexico Public Safety Department is aware that there have been numerous conversations through social media about vigils or protests occurring in Mexico on Wednesday, June 3, 2020.

We have adjusted our staffing and coordinated with other area emergency responders, to include the Audrain County Sheriff’s Office, as we continue to work to keep the community safe.

Several separate events are being planned in Mexico tonight in connection with the death of George Floyd.

A vigil and celebration of life for Mr. Floyd is planned at 6 tonight on the square in downtown Mexico.

And according to several reports on social media a protest is being planned at Lakeview Park at 6pm.
