St. Louis Cardinals welcomed pitcher Carlos Martinez back to the field yesterday (Tuesday).
Martinez was cleared to participate in workouts at Busch Stadium for the first time since Summer Camp opened.
Martinez had a late flight from the Dominican Republic to St. Louis last week and then a delay in COVID-19 testing results, as well as extra contact tracing steps, and could not be at the stadium until he was cleared from a testing standpoint.
He threw a bullpen session yesterday (Tuesday), and manager Mike Shildt says the earliest Martinez could face batters will be tomorrow (Thursday) or Friday.
Two more Kansas City Royals tested positive for the coronavirus yesterday (Tuesday).
The team announced that right-handed pitcher Brad Keller and first baseman Ryan O’Hearn have tested positive for the virus.
Previously catcher Salvador Perez also tested positive for COVID-19.
