School history was made last (Tuesday) night as head coach Darren Pappas and his Mexico Bulldogs boys basketball team finished the regular season unbeaten at 25-0 after defeating the Hannibal Pirates on the road 76-57.

The Mexico boys are the number 1 seed in their District and have a first round bye and start the playoffs next week on Wednesday, March 2nd.

The Mexico Lady Bulldogs basket ball team finished the regular season with a 42-21 win over Hannibal and claimed a share of the North Central Missouri Conference Championship.

This is the third year in a row the Mexico girls either won or tied for NCMC Champs.

 

In District playoff basketball last (Tuesday) night it was the Community R6 Lady Trojans advancing beating Clopton 51-35.

The Lady Trojans will meet Cairo in the District championship game on Friday night at 7 at the Sturgeon High School.

In Class 1 girls high school basketball District playoffs the Wellsville-Middletown Lady Tigers continued their Cinderella run and advanced to the championship game after taking out the number 1 seed in the bracket Higbee 51-49.

The 4th seeded Wellsville girls will play Pilot Grove in the District championship game tomorrow (Thursday) night at 6.

The Missouri Tigers men’s basketball team lost 80-61 to the 17th ranked Tennessee Volunteers at Mizzou Arena last (Tuesday) night.

Javon Pickett led Mizzou in scoring with 16 points and was a perfect 6 of 6 at the free throw line.

Up next Mizzou will hit the road for its final 2 away games of the season, beginning with a matchup at LSU on Saturday.

That game has a 7:30 tip.

The St. Louis Blues defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 4-1 on the road last night.

Blues goalie Jordan Binnington won for the first time since January 9th, making 25 saves.

It was Binnington’s first start since February 10th.

Vladimir Tarasenko scored the go-ahead goal, and Ivan Barbashev had a goal and an assist for St. Louis who improved to 30-14-6 on the season.
