Lady Bulldogs head coach Haley Schafer says “We used the jamboree as an opportunity to move lots of girls around to different positions to get touches. Overall, we were very impressed with several aspects of the game. We are still very much in a rebuilding situation, but you can clearly see the improvements made from last year. Maddie Maxwell and Lizzie Joiner look strong together on the back line. Communication will be a gib key for them to be successful. Tessa Haefling is still looking strong in the goal. She’s aggressive and puts a lot of pressure on the attacking forces from other teams.”
Shelby Kennemore scored the loan goal of the night with a big shot from outside of the 18.
Prior to the game Mexico honored their fallen teammate Emma Azdell who was killed last year due to an ATV accident.
Emma’s family made headbands for all the girls to wear with Emma’s number.
The team plans to involve Emma in every game.
Mexico Lady Bulldogs soccer kicks off the regular season on Friday, March 18th at home against Jefferson City.
