The St. Louis Cardinals picked up a 9-0 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on opening day at Busch Stadium yesterday (Thursday).

Tyler O’Neill hit a three-run home run and drove in a career-best five runs.

Paul Goldschmidt drew four walks and Nolan Arenado and Tommy Edman ripped home runs.

Adam Wainwright pitched six innings and did not walk anyone.

The Redbirds have the day off today and resume their series with Pittsburgh tomorrow at Busch Stadium with a 1:15 first pitch.

The Kansas City Royals defeated the Cleveland Guardians 3-1 at Kauffman Stadium.

With two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning and the score tied 1-1, Kansas City’s Bobby Witt Jr. who was making his Major League Debut stepped up to the plate and drove in his first Major League RBI.

That proved to be the game-winner.

The Royals and Guardians are back at tomorrow (Saturday) at Kaufmann Stadium with a 3:10 start.

The St. Louis Blues host the Minnesota Wild tonight (Friday) at the Enterprise Center. Puck drops at 7.
