It was a highly successful year for the Mexico High School athletes and sports program for 2022.
Coaches and players gathered tonight at the Mexico Sports Complex for a meal and awards.
Mexico stand out athlete now turned college coach Brooke Costley was the featured speaker. Brooke was an assistant coach for the Women’s basketball team at North Dakota recently and is now coaching at Texas A & M Commerce. Brooke told the seniors “Don’t worry about setbacks. A setback is always a setup for a comeback.” She also talked about her four C’s in life. Choices. Comfort. Challenges. Comparison.
Ten athletes from the Class of 22 signed to play college sports.
And 19 scholarships will be handed out to athletes from the Mexico Sports Boosters.
The man who has reached legendary status at the Mexico High School Mr. Don ” Bucky” Green was recognized for 50 years of coaching.
Mexico High School activities director Brandon Shafer in his first year in the role thanked the athletes for a phenomenal sports year.
