A standoff at a Bellflower residence ended peacefully yesterday, as Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies took 40-year old Charles L. Story, from Beardstown, Illinois, into custody. The Sheriff’s department got a tip that Story, who has several outstanding Illinois warrants, and is also wanted for questioning for his possible involvement in the disappearance of (Beverly J. Logan) an East St. Louis Illinois woman missing since February, was currently at a residence off of Elm Street in Bellflower, Missouri.
At 3:47 p.m., after getting permission to search the property, deputies found Story had barricaded himself in a hidden room in the house. Story advised that he was armed and would shoot anyone entering the room and then shoot himself. He also stated he was injured, having been shot in the leg several days prior. After a brief stand-off, Story exited the room and was taken into custody without incident. He received medical treatment and is currently in the Montgomery County Jail on a 24-hour investigative hold for Montgomery County and two active warrants out of the State of Illinois with bonds totaling $90,000.00.
Story has a history of resisting arrest, threatening public officials, aggravated battery, and is registered with the State of Illinois as a sexual predator.
