Rookie catcher MJ Melendez had a career-high six RBI to help the Kansas City Royals beat the Boston Red Sox 13-5 on Sunday. The victory gave the Royals the series win.
Across the state, the Cardinals also exploded offensively. Newly recalled shortstop Paul DeJong (De-Young) had a double and a home run, while red-hot Nolan Arenado (AIR-uh-nod-o) also homered as St. Louis swept the New York Yankees, 12-9. Both DeJong and Arenado had 4 rbi’s.
