The final round of the 80th Annual Tony Lenzini Basketball Tournament in Palmyra begins tonight with consolation play.

In boys action last night, Van-Far narrowly beat Monroe City, 40 – 38 and Hannibal beat Clark County by 10, 45 – 35.

Hannibal and Mark Twain vie for the consolation trophy tonight at 6:30 while Van-Far and Palmyra do battle for the championship tomorrow night at 8:00.

In girls action, Canton handled Hannibal last night 52 – 32 to advance to the championship game tomorrow night at 6:30 facing Palmyra.

Van-Far Lady Indians beat the Clark County Lady Indians by 10, 51 – 41 setting up the consolation game between Highland and Van-Far this evening at 5:00.

Mizzou’s Kobe Brown is being named to the Oscar Robertson Trophy Watch List.

Brown is now one of 50 student athletes under consideration by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association for National Player of the Year recognition.

Brown is enjoying a very successful senior season, leading the Tigers with 15.7 points per game and 5.6 rebounds.

He’s one of just five players in the country shooting at least 55 percent from the field and 40 percent from 3-point land.

The Blues got their second win in a row last night, knocking off the Predators 5 – 2 at home.

It’s another home game tomorrow night as the Blackhawks come to town, puck drops at 7:00.

In Mexico Bulldog basketball last night, the Freshmen improve their record after beating Community R-VI 62 – 15.

Mexico Lady Bulldogs Wrestling were in action last night in Fulton.

Mexico lost to Fulton 30 – 6 and lost to St. Charles West 54 – 12.
