Missouri Fire Marshal Time Change Tips

The upcoming time change to Daylight Saving Time has fire officials reminding Missourians of another change that needs to be made.

Missouri Fire Marshal Tim Bean is encouraging residents to check their smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms this weekend and replace them if they are 10 years old or more.

Families should also practice their home fire escape plans at least twice per year and the spring and fall time changes are good reminders for those practices.

Working smoke alarms reduce the risk of dying in a fire by one-half according to Bean.

The time change is at 2:00 Sunday morning; clocks are set one hour ahead.
