Spring training baseball is winding down and yesterday, the Cards had 5 hits and no errors compared to the 7 hits and 3 errors for the Marlins.

However, neither team was able to score a run with the game ending tied at nothing.

The Royals were able to score yesterday, beating the White Sox 4 – 3.

 

After a groin strain in the World Baseball Classic, Cards right-hander Adam Wainwright will likely miss several weeks according to Ollie Marmol.

Wainwright was scheduled to be the starter on opening day.

Jake Woodford is the leading candidate to take his place in the starting rotation.

 

 


In high school baseball yesterday, it was a cross-town rivalry in Jefferson City as the Jays remain undefeated and the Cavaliers look for their first win of the season.

The Jays shut out Capital City 1 – 0.

With home field advantage in Mokane, the Bulldogs of South Callaway remain perfect early in the season getting a win over the Thunderbirds of North Callaway 12 – 4.

Today, either Fatima or Fulton will suffer their first loss of the season as they do battle in Fulton.

Montgomery County travels to Linn, Louisiana hosts Bowling Green, and the Colonels of Missouri Military Academy travel to Center to take on Mark Twain with one of them picking up their first win of the season.

Mexico looks to improve to 2 – 0 as they host the Marshall Owls, Hallsville travels to North Callaway and Community R-6 is on the road to Philadelphia to take on the Marion County Mustangs.

 

Perfect weather for the first match for the Mexico Bulldogs golf team yesterday (Wednesday) helps them in a quad match with Centralia, Louisiana, and Hannibal at Arthur Hills Golf Course just west of Mexico.

Hannibal, led by meet medalist Kyle Lock, took first place with a 174.

Lock fired a two over 38.

Centralia finished second with a 195.

Mexico was a close third at 197, and Louisiana fired a 243.

Aden Knipfel had the top score for Mexico with a 44.

Mexico is scheduled to play at Montgomery County this afternoon.
