Mexico Public Safety is warning residents about possible scams after the storm moved through the area on Thursday, April 20.
Public Safety warns that people who do not have business licenses are reportedly going door to door offering to do repair work.
Residents have also been getting phone calls from people saying they are insurance companies and asking for personal or bank account information.
Mexico Public Safety is reminding residents that unfortunately there are people who try to take advantage of situations like this.
They are asking residents to remember that no legitimate company will pay for repair work unless it is the insurance company you have been paying before the storm happened.
Your bank or insurance company should not need any information from you.
Also, any contractor must have a business license to do work in Mexico.
Using contractors who are not licensed and insured increases the chance you will be scammed.
