In high school baseball the Fulton Hornets bested the Mexico Bulldogs 4-2 last (Friday) night.

With the win the Fulton claimed their first North Central Missouri Conference championship in 22 years.

Tyler Thoenen produced and RBI double for the Bulldogs. Austin Maxwell, Drew DeMint and Austin Maxell each collected hits for the Bulldogs.

Mexico’s starting pitcher Landyn Kleinsorge struck out three, and in relief Austin Maxwell struck out two.

Up next for Mexico will be the regular season finale against the Moberly Spartans on May 8.

The St. Louis Cardinals were defeated 7-3 by the Los Angeles Dodgers last (Friday) night.

The loss also marked St. Louis’ ninth consecutive series-opener loss this season, which sets a franchise record.

The Redbirds got off to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, however then went scoreless until the ninth inning when Lars Nootbaar pushed across a run.

St. Louis will try to get even in the series tonight (Saturday).

The Kansas City Royals lost 8-6 to the Minnesota Twins.

The Kansas City Chiefs continued to trade-up on day two of the 2023 NFL Draft.

In the third round the Chiefs moved up three spots to take former Oklahoma offensive tackle Wanya Morris as the No. 92 overall pick.

Morris was a five-star recruit from Grayson, Georgia.
