A semi truck driver is dead after colliding with a Norfolk Southern freight train outside of Madison, yesterday (Sunday) afternoon.
According to the Missouri Highway Patrol the crash happened three miles east of Madison along US 24 East, when 65-year-old Russell W. Minnis, failed to stop the semi truck he was driving at the railroad crossing and was then hit by the incoming train.
A coroner pronounced Russell dead at the scene.
The Missouri Department of Transportation says the area will remain closed until further notice.
