A two year old child suspected to have been seriously abused in Lewis County died yesterday at 12:16PM [Tuesday] at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
On Monday, the Lewis County Prosecutor formally charged 34 year old Marcus Mays with felony abuse or neglect of a child. Mays allegedly caused the child to suffer serious injuries by hitting the child in the head numerous times with his hand.
An autopsy will be conducted in the near future, and the evidence will be turned over to the prosecutor for possible upgraded charges.
