The Mexico Bulldogs Basketball team went 1-2 on day 1 at the Rib City Shootout at Poplar Bluff yesterday (Friday).
Mexico beat James Lawson and lost to 6A Conway, Arkansas and the defending Class 3 State Champs New Madrid County, Central, MO.
Mexico head coach Darren Pappas says “We got off to a rough start offensively against Conway but stayed in the game, against New Madrid the offense came alive as we made nine-three pointers but New Madrid’s defense caused us to turn the ball over too much and we couldn’t keep them off the boards. In the second half against James Lawson we turned up the defense holding them to one shot and got out in transition for some easy buckets.”
The Bulldogs are back in action at 10:30 this (Saturday) morning for the final day of the Rib City Shootout.
Then at noon start a single elimination tournament and play at 3:45 vs. the winner of James Lawson/Branson.
