With students across the state preparing for “National Walk Out Day” that is expected to happen across the nation tomorrow, Mexico Superintendent Dr. Zach Templeton says administrators have been discussing how to handle the students.
In a statement, Templeton said they have not heard of any organized efforts for students to walk out tomorrow, but there is a plan on how to respond if they do.
Templeton says Mexico Schools support the student’s right to voice his or her opinion on scoial matters that impact student lives.
He says any student choosing to participate will not face disciplinary actions as long as the protest is done in a peaceable manner and students don’t take advantage in order to violate some other school rule.
National Walk Out Day is a movement to protest gun violence, and to stand in solidarity with the 17 people that lost their lives at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
